The Yoni Jesner Scholarships
The Yoni Jesner Scholarships ran for many years and were awarded to exceptional individuals who demonstrated a special kind of activism within their community and evidence of excellence. We selected outstanding young people who, like Yoni, combined a love of humanity, a passion for Judaism and commitment to Israel with an open-minded and tolerant outlook. Yoni Jesner Scholarships were only awarded to students living in the UK.
The scholarships were awarded on merit rather than needs based.
Yoni was spending his second gap year studying in Israel at the time of his death. The Yoni Jesner Scholarships aimed to assist other students wishing to spend a year in Israel before commencing their university studies.
Scholarships were provided for year-long structured educational programmes at yeshiva/seminary or on a Bnei Akiva programme that may include Jewish studies, study of Israel and culture and working with local communities.
